Well, where would rock n’ roll be? Hey, where would rock n’ roll be? Without ya immigration or migration Where would rock n’ roll be? Well, there may not have been no country May not have been no blues No melting pot down in New Orleans Well, that’s a hell of a thing to lose Yeah, this world is going backwards That’s the way it seems to me So, when your building your barriers and border Tell me one thing please Well, where would rock n’ roll be? Hey, where would rock n’ roll be? Without ya immigration or migration Where would rock n’ roll be? Politicians and the media lying Leading the whole country astray Isn’t that classed as treason? Then shoot them straight away Oh, where do you think you come from? Check your own family tree Check your own ancestry Hey, before you get righteous with me ’Cause where would rock n’ roll be? Hey, where would rock n’ roll be? Without immigration or migration Where would rock n’ roll be? Lying politicians not keeping promises they say Making up anything they want to And no-one making them pay They should be nailed to the wall as examples to us all And left to rot away Oh, they’ll sell you to the highest bidder For another pound in their pay Where would rock n’ roll be? Hey, where would rock n’ roll be? Without immigration or migration Where would rock n’ roll be? Yeah, where would rock n’ roll be? Tell me, where would rock n’ roll be?

I’m gonna tell you a story About the siege of Tennyson When the cops come after Eddie And sent him on the run Named John Eddie Edwards But his friends called him Eddie A friendly guy with a wonky eye He had corrected recently Eddie had a disagreement Disagreement with his son So, his son thought he’d get even And set him up not just for fun He phoned the police Said Eddie’s beating up his mum And he was gonna kill her If they didn’t come Eddie woke up on his bed With coppers knocking on his door So, he told them where to go Just like many times before It wasn’t long before the cops Had blocked off every street So Eddie barricaded his front door And went back to sleep Many hours later He woke back up in this mess Police smashing through the front door So, out the back he ran his best Out the back door A muddy hill he knew so well Hey, flying like the clappers There’s no way to stop him now The steep hill went down to Cogan Eddie knew it since a kid He knew every crook and cranny From a misspent youth he hid At the bottom of the hill Was a busy, busy road On which lorries they were flying With their heavy loads The only way to stop Was to grab on to a tree He managed to stop I’m sure it wasn’t gracefully Also flying was a copper Chasing Eddie down the hill He had no way of stopping So, surely he’ll be killed Eddie saw what was happening And grabbed the copper by the coat Stopped the copper becoming a cropper Woah, and history was wrote Because he stopped to save the cop The rest had caught up now They slapped the handcuffs on him And took him to a cell Back at the station They all heard what Eddie done And they treated him like royalty That crazy, crazy one They made him a full breakfast Then they set him free So, he went back home To get drunk on his own settee This wasn’t the only siege for Eddie Up at Tennyson He said he’d blow up the gas mains If they didn’t give him some But that’s another story I ain’t gonna tell to you You can ask him yourself That friendly one-eyed fool Crazy one-eyed friendly fool Crazy one-eyed friendly fool Crazy one-eyed friendly fool

Yeah, it hurts when I’m sober So, I’m drinking today It didn’t hurt this morning But I was drunk up ’til midday It ain’t my baby left me It’s my body causes pain And it hurts when I’m sober So, I’m drinking today When I wake in the morning I can’t get out of bed My back’s in seven pieces And the pain shoots to my head There lays an empty bottle That drowned the pain the night before And it hurts when I’m sober So, I’m gonna drink some more Everybody’s now an expert Telling me what to do The chiropractor tried to fleece me Thinking I’m a fool The physiotherapist crushed me Until I had no breath But I didn’t need a drink today I think he’s the best It only hurts when I’m sober So, I’m drinking today It didn’t hurt this morning ’Cause I drunk up ’til midday It ain’t my baby left me It’s my body causes pain And it hurts when I’m sober So, I’m drinking today It hurts when I’m sober Oh, it hurts when I’m sober

Baby left me crying Baby might as well left me dead Baby left me crying With words like nails in my head Oh, words like nails in my head Words like nails in my head Baby left me crying She might as well left me dead Well, I could not believe it I disbelieved it was true My head made up my own version In which you still loved me true Words like nails in my head Words like nails in my head Baby Left me crying Words like nails in my head I was momentarily paralysed I was momentarily dead I was momentarily lifeless From the lying words that she said From the lying words that she said You could have just said goodbye It’s not working out for you Instead you tried to ruin me Just for loving you With words like nails in my head Words like nails in my head Baby left me crying She might as well left me dead You spread lying rumours Saying I was the devil to you Mistreating and beating and all night cheating When that really summed up you With words like nails in my head Words like nails in my head Oh, baby left me crying She might as well left me dead I was momentarily paralysed I was momentarily dead I was momentarily lifeless From the lying words that she said The lying words that she said

Wipe me Out 02:07
I hear there’s a comet passing earth today And there’s a slight chance it’s gonna wipe us all away It’s gonna wipe us out Ah, wipe us out It’s gonna wipe us out If it comes our way Gonna wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe us out It’s gonna wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe us out It’s gonna wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe us out It’s gonna wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe us out It’s gonna wipe us out Passing earth today Now, this thing’s bigger than me and you If it comes our way, hey lordy, we’re screwed Gonna wipe us out It’s gonna wipe us out It’s gonna wipe us out That’s all I got to say Gonna wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe us out It’s gonna wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe us out It’s gonna wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe us out It’s gonna wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe us out It’s gonna wipe us out That’s all I got to say Yeah, the human race is killing this world But this could do it in a single move Gonna wipe us out I wish it’d wipe us out Ah, will it wipe us out? That’s all I got to say Wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe us out It’s gonna wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe us out It’s gonna wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe us out It’s gonna wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe us out It’s gonna wipe us out That’s all I got to say Well, if it’s heading for earth let it land on me Let it wipe me out quickly and pain free Let it wipe me out Ah, let it wipe me out Let it wipe me out That’s all I got to say Let it wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe me out Let it wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe me out Let it wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe me out Let it wipe (wipe) wipe (wipe) wipe me out Let it wipe me out If it comes our way

Originally recorded by Pee Wee King in 1952 I’ll settle in the woods where the land is free No hog tied life will wash on me I’ll build me a cabin for the world to see, by and by The woods snow covers in the first hard freeze And wolves are howling through the giant trees I’ll sleep with a rifle here across my knees in the night Spring will follow and my heart will wake I’ll find me a woman who will share my fate For a man in the wilderness needs a mate And a wilderness man am I So, I’ll settle in the woods where the headland juts And build me a cabin that’ll mean so much But my cabin in the woods needs a woman’s touch So do I Spring will follow and my heart will wake I’ll find me a woman who will share my fate For a man in the wilderness needs a mate And a wilderness man am I So, I’ll settle in the woods where the headland juts And build me a cabin that’ll mean so much But my cabin in the woods needs a woman’s touch So do I

about

Tom Robinson BBC Radio 6 “Like a yodelling Rockabilly hybrid of Captain Beefheart, Carl Perkins & Tom Waits that veteran Penarth guitarist John Lewis with his R’n’R Trio. " Fantastic energy and passion there"

Adam Walton BBC radio Wales "The tunes excellent really authentic and raw" "incredibly really really good" "Great great music"
Adam Walton 2019 “Doesn’t matter how old the influences are. When something imbued & endowed with that much life and spirt, it makes it thoroughly contemporary. Well it doesn’t come out till March this year so it is thoroughly contemporary. But there’s real life in it. I’m playing it because I’m sure many of us feel the same. I think the title of the song and lyrical refrain sums up the way I feel right now.

Steve Lamacq BBC radio 6 " this could catch on you know"
